Vertical-Horizontal Small Engine/Small Motor Test Stands
The choice of test facilities and small engine/motor manufacturers worldwide
Virtually any size Midwest or Dynamatic dynamometer can be configured vertically or horizontally (see Dynamometers > Eddy Current > Midwest or Dynamatic > Technical Specs ). However, to accomodate testing of small engines and motors with both vertical and horizontal shaft orientations, DyneSystems provides a compact small engine dynamometer “tilt stand” that locks in the horizontal or vertical positions, with fixtures for mounting and coupling both styles of engines or motors during test. These units can be configured with an AC (motoring and absorbing) dynamometer or an Eddy Current (absorbing) dynamometer, depending on the application. This two-position tilt stand is rated for 3 to 75 hp, and can be configured with one of several Midwest, Dynamatic or Dymond Series AC dynamometer models.
Portable tilt stand rated for fractional to 40hp locks into multiple positions
The portable cart at right is rated for fractional horsepower to 40 hp engines and motors, can be moved easily between test cells and locks into positions that simulate real-life usage. For example, weed-whackers and chainsaws are held at an angle during use, and that angle can be duplicated with this test stand.
The portable cart's animation does not show all possible positions. To view the animation again for either of these test stands, simply refresh the page.
Integration and Control
When these dynamometers are integrated with other devices, test systems can include DyneSystems digital dynamometer and throttle control, data acquisition, test automation, and emissions analysis. Additional components from other suppliers which can be integrated include air measurement, fuel measurement, and combustion analysis systems.
Small Engine Test Stand Features
Both test stands are loaded with standard features, and design modifications can be made to further customize the unit to your testing needs.
- Speed encoder or Magnetic Pickup
- Speed Feedback
- Integrated electric starter for starting the device under test
- Electric actuator for selecting position
- Trunnion mounted or inline transducer
- Calibration arms and weights
- Safety Interface Sensors: Temperature faults and Coolant flow faults
- With Inter-Loc V or Dyn-Loc IV Digital Dynamometer Controllers:
- - Torque measurement and regulation
- - Speed measurement and regulation
- - Horsepower calculation
- Trunnion-mounted dynamometer with load cell, or foot-mounted with inline torque flange
- Heavy-duty weldments for vibration dampening
