Midwest Dynamometer Stretches the Envelope
Turbine Engine Test System: 4,000 HP at 30,000 RPM!

Midwest Model 932 Wet Gap Eddy Current Dynamometer tests engines at up to 30,000 rpm
The Midwest model MW932 is a wet-gap eddy current dynamometer with a maximum absorbing power capacity of 4,000 hp, from 1,500 rpm to 3,000 rpm. It is trunnion mounted in pedestals on a base.
Utilizes a Speed Increaser
A 10:1 speed increaser is utilized to reconcile the difference between the dynamometer speed and the device under test (DUT), providing operation at peak efficiency.
AC Motor Negates Inertia, Provides Zero Load
An AC motor is used to negate the inertia of the eddy current and the speed increaser, to provide a zero load at the output shaft of the speed increaser. The AC motor also assists in maintaining this zero load during acceleration.
