Simple electronic dynamometer control with the DS820 Eddy Current Power Amplfier Unit from Dyne Systems
DS820 Universal Pau (highlighted) is a simple and cost-effective dyno control option.

Dynamometer Control Options

Dyne Systems offers two main options for dynamometer control:

  • Closed Loop
    • Single-loop, utilizing the Dyn-Loc IV dynamometer controller
    • Multi-loop, utilizing the Inter-Loc V dynamometer & throttle controller
  • Open Loop
    • About half the cost, utilizing a stand-alone Eddy Current Power Amplifier Unit.

Dyne Systems PAUs are designed to operate as stand-alone units or will interface with most available controllers. Compatible with the popular National Instruments LabVIEW™ software.

A few examples of DS820 error and information readouts

The DS820 uses single-phase regenerative control with additional field forcing functionality, to provide ultra-fast response. Its main advances over the DS507 (see below) are LCD readout of diagnostics, faults and other information; 30 Amp capability in the rack-mounted model; and its ability to interface with all existing Dyne Systems dynamometer controllers as well as most competitors' controllers.

  • Interfaces with all existing Dyne Systems dyno controllers and most competitors' controls
  • NI LabVIEW™ compatible
  • Stand-alone operation supported
  • LCD diagnostic readouts display field current, input command, and PAU status and faults
  • 0 to +10 VDC control input
  • Dry contact and PCL-Level I/O
  • Rack-mount units up to 30A and 277 VAC
  • Wall-mount units up to 100A and 480 VAC
  • Advanced fault detection (e.g. blown fuse, incorrect transformer phasing and other wiring errors)
  • Integral safety inputs included
  • Simple setup and calibration
