Dynamatic Eddy Current Dynamometers
Engineered to meet the demands of today's engine and motor industries

Dynamatic Dynamometer & Engineering Company contracted with Midwest Dynamometer in the 1920's to build its eddy current dynamometers, but in the 1960's, under the ownership of Eaton Corporation, utilized its engineering capabilites to design higher speed, lower inertia dynos. Dynamatic models are available with both wet and dry gap construction, and range from 40 to 2200 horsepower.
Why Eddy Current?
The development of the eddy-current dynamometer has made available to the industry simple, low cost, compact torque measuring equipment for a large spectrum of test purposes. The speed-torque characteristics of these dynamometers are ideal for engine testing and their versatility also allows effective use of these units in testing transmissions, turbines, electric motors, gears, pumps and many other machines.
Horizontal or Vertical Configuration
Dynamatic Model 66 VerticalAny Dry Gap (DG) model dynamometer can be configured for vertical shaft applications (see example in the photo at right). And, for the ultimate in small engine (up to 75hp) dynamometers, check out our multiple-position “tilt stands” which utilize shaft orientations that imitate the angles in which an engine might operate under real-life conditions.
Model Specifications
Speed, horsepower, torque and inertia specifications will determine which model is correct for your application. The 28 Dynamatic models are listed in these tables.
