Dynamatic Eddy Current Dynamometers
Engineered to meet the dynamometer testing demands of today's engine and motor industries.
Formerly Eaton Dynamatic.

Dynamatic Dynamometer & Engineering Company contracted with Midwest Dynamometer in the 1930's to build its eddy current dynamometers, but in the 1960's, under the ownership of Eaton Corporation, utilized its engineering capabilites to design higher speed, lower inertia dynos. Dynamatic models are available with both wet and dry gap construction, and range from 40 to 2200 horsepower.
Why Eddy Current Dynamometers?
The development of the eddy-current dynamometer has made available to the industry simple, low cost, compact torque measuring equipment for a large spectrum of test purposes. The speed-torque characteristics of these dynamometers are ideal for engine testing and their versatility also allows effective use of these units in dynamometer testing of transmissions, turbines, electric motors, gears, pumps and many other machines.
Dyno Model Specifications
Speed, horsepower, torque and inertia specifications will determine which model is correct for your application. This data for all Midwest and Dynamatic models are listed in the dynamometer specifications table, organized by horsepower. From this listing, you can also view all speed-torque curves. Horizontal or Vertical Dry Gap Dynamometer Configuration

Dynamatic Model 66 with Vertical Shaft Configuration
Any Dry Gap (DG) model dynamometer can be configured for vertical shaft applications (see example in the photo at right). And, for the ultimate in small engine (up to 75hp) dynamometers, check out our multiple-position “tilt stands” which utilize shaft orientations that imitate the angles in which an engine might operate under real-life conditions.
