The CIA-III is shown mounted in a space-saving slimline console, along with Inter-Loc V multi-loop dynamometer control / throttle controller and its Operator Control Station (lower unit). Console height can increase with additional units.

The Cell Interface Assistant is a PLC based monitoring system (24VDC I/O logic) used to control/monitor devices and functions in a test cell environment. The CIA is capable of monitoring cell safeties including temp, fluid level, pressure, flow rate, etc. ABB PLC Process Control (PID) is available when a true closed loop process is required (e.g. engine cooling control, flow control, level control, and other ancillary functions). All channels come with the ability to set limits, alarms, etc. to accommodate your specific application requirements. Shown with Inter-Loc V OCS.

CIA-IV: Utilizes Allen-Bradley PLC Process Control (PID)

CIA-IV utilizes Allen-Bradley PLC process control hardware and software. Available in 2011.

CIA-III: Utilizes ABB PLC Process Control (PID)

Introduced in 2010, CIA-III utilizes ABB PLC process control hardware and software.

CIA-II: Utilizes Horner PLC Process Control (PID)

Introduced in 2007, CIA-II utilizes Horner PLC process control hardware and software. Shown below.

Common Features

All the above PLC systems have the following I/O for safety and digital data acquisition monitoring, as well as operator interface and troubleshooting:

  • 7" Rack Mount or Console Mount available
  • Standard touch-screen interface, capable of:
    • Test cell / Device Under Test function control
    • Feedback of control process, setpoints and safeties
    • Viewing of test cell I/O status and trending
  • Custom Interface includes:
    • 8 dedicated push buttons for: Console Power On/Off, Computer/Manual test system control, Fault Reset, Alarm for faults, Alarm Silence, Computer Watchdog
    • 4 customizable push buttons
    • 12 Fault LEDs: 5 dedicated and 8 customizable
    • On/Off control for console centrally located
    • A UPS can be integrated
  • All I/O channels and user interface screens can be customized based on the application
  • Optional Analog I/O and PID control are available
  • Units are expandable and flexible
  • PLC programming software is provided with the CIA II

CIA-I: Original Push-button Dynamometer Test Cell PLC

The CIA-1 has 24 discrete inputs and outputs, and 12 enunciator LEDs for power and fault verification. In addition to the typical configurations listed below, numerous other functions are available, configured according to the requirements of the application.
